Automating Human Capital Management

Technology applications that include COTS packages create unique challenges, even while they might save development time. New releases become available, and timely upgrades must occur to avoid maintainability or security issues. The NAVSEA Workforce Administration Management and Operations (WAMO) system is no exception.

CHALLENGE:
McKean has supported the NAVSEA Deputy CIO for Enterprise Management on one of their human capital systems, the Workforce Administration Management and Operations (WAMO).

SOLUTION:
Our computer programmers and security specialists have seamlessly migrated the system through various Oracle upgrades, while monitoring security issues that might infiltrate the personnel sensitive information WAMO contains.

 

More recently, McKean was up to the challenge when the government decided to move to a new pay scale, which would significantly affect the content and forms that WAMO includes. Our staff analyzed the impacts, and highlighted priority changes, mindful of the over 100 forms and over 160 reports that are accessed daily. Then we began work on the high priority changes, with the first step including modifications to data entry functions. This phase was completed a week earlier than plan.

SUCCESS:
Subsequently, McKean staff began work on the reports, and based on our initial and sustained pace, 42 key reports were delivered ahead of schedule.
